Title: Memory Sculpture: Your Open Secret Size: 60 x 80 cm / 23,6“ x 31,5“ Year: 2022 “Memory Sculpture: Your Open Secret / Dein offenes Geheimnis" (2022, 60 x 80 cm / 23,6“ x 31,5“) is based on a live music improvisation played on flute by the flutist and writer Apollina Smaragd. It is the result of the "Memory Sculpture Interaction" setting, in which movement, drawing and instrument come into interaction. What would our lives look like, if we worked on our memories like they were sculptures? That is the initial question behind the concept of "Memory Sculpture" ("Gedächtnisskulptur.") The drawings are thinking tools based on a symbolic language. As material and symbol formations, they document the performative thought process. "Memory Sculpture Drawings" are the medium to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory. This work is signed on the reverse and provided with a work stamp as well as an artist stamp with information about the materials, year of creation, title, size etc.

Mersolis Schöne is a German Artist, Film Director, and Researcher based in Vienna, Austria. He is a member of Künstlerhaus Wien in Austria, The Professional Association of Visual Artists in Germany, and other associations. His works "Memory Sculptures" (Gedächtnisskulpturen) presented at Saatchi Art are based on a symbol-language. The displayed drawings act as thinking tools to design an internal architecture of sculptural memory. Have you ever thought about what our lives would be like if we treated our memories like sculptures? That's the question at the heart of the "Memory Sculpture" ("Gedächtnisskulptur") concept. The process of creation varies, on the one hand there are interactive performative settings in exchange with other artists (e.g. from the fields of music, literature, film, performance), where the works are created during the performative exchange. On the other hand, there are clearly defined symbol formations that are developed over months and years.
