In 1995 I visited New York City for the first time. It was March and freezing cold. I took the elevator to the top of one of the Twin Towers and experienced terrifying vertigo for the first time in my life. I managed to take four photographs, one from each side of the tower - before I had to leave the visitor centre. I spent about two minutes up there but will never forget the views. During lockdown I unearthed all my film work and spent many happy hours scanning some of my long forgotten work into my computer. Sadly some of the negatives were quite rough but with trial and error and much experimentation I filtered out the marks and transformed some pretty grainy old work into something more abstract and painterly. The limited edition prints will be printed on A2 Canson bamboo paper, signed, numbered and embossed. The size given is the paper size not the image size, which will be slightly smaller.

I studied Art History at the University of St Andrews and the Art of Black and White Photography at Glasgow School of Art. I have been selected for exhibition with the Royal Photographic Society, the Chania International Photography Festival, the Blank Wall Gallery in Athens and have recently become a Juried Affiliate Artist with the prestigious Circle-Arts Foundation in France. I won two awards for my photography from the annual Monochrome Awards, and I picked up several accolades for her wedding photography. I am also a member of Art Map Argyll, the BJP 1854 community and the RPS. My work has been exhibited in Britain and Europe and is in private collections from the USA to Australia. My photographs have been published in ArtMag, Spotlight and Contemporary Artist magazines and in 2020 I was selected as one of the first artists to feature in the new European art magazine Art IDEAL. "As as student of Art History, I studied the work of the “gesture painters” and “colour field” artists and my photography is very much influenced by this period. At the Glasgow School of Art I studied the art of black and white photography. It opened my eyes to the possibilities of pushing inherently representational photography towards the abstract and turn the familiar into something unexpected. Since moving to digital I am discovering that the developing processes I like best are a continuation of the ones I learnt in the darkroom at the School of Art. As my photography evolves and improves I continue to learn from the greats, both photographers and artists, of the past." All images will be printed to order on Hahnemule or Canson A2 fine art photo rag paper, with a white border, signature, print number and embossed with my studio logo. The measurements denote the paper size not the image size.
