Vanity, classic subject par excellence... a human skull to remind us of our mortal condition, like the Memento Mori of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Here, the skull is not placed on a table or arranged in a setting as is often the case, it is held in the palm of a hand whose owner we do not know, like an echo of the famous scene. To be or not to be" in Hamlet... This painting is ironically titled "The Future", a word that is generally associated with projects and perspectives. Here, the future seems dark and threatening. When we look closely at this skull, we discover five symbols engraved in the bone which evoke five totalitarianisms that could lead to catastrophe: Nazism, communism, Islamism, “sanitarism” (Big Pharma) and radical environmentalism. This work is produced in mixed technique on canvas and a mixture of photography, digital composition and acrylic painting. This is a one-of-a-kind artwork, it is signed on the back and framed in black (44 x 44 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
