This work was painted following the request from the CPBC (Catholic Peace Broadcasting Corporation) TV production team, which launches a new documentary, "Andrea's letters," to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Father Kim Taegon's birth, the first native Catholic priest of Korea. It is difficult to recall who he was in detail due to the lack of data, you can still catch a glimpse of him: He was martyred at the age of 26. He was perhaps the first to have bread and coffee in Choson. He was multilingual, fluent in Latin and other languages. He was also a courageous young man who explored the sea route from Shanghai, China to Choson, relying on a shabby boat. Journey from China to Korea, boarding a ship named "Raphael", was especially impressive. The image of him facing the storm in the open sea along with four sailors and his fellow Christians with no experience of boat riding, resembled how Moses led the people in the Old Testament, trusting God's words. This is a scene that can only be understood through the eyes of faith. I recalled the desperate moment I encountered in the past, while drawing Father Kim Taegon praying in the midst of a raging storm. *31.8X40.9X2ea
