‘She Took to Flight, 2017’ is a detailed macro photograph of a translucent bird ornament printed large scale on fine art Hahnemühle paper and framed. Based on interviews and stories from the life of one woman, including a newspaper article of her flying a plane as a teenager and tales of her family, the piece symbolises the freedom gained by breaking with convention. Olivia Hemingway's work has been published and exhibited internationally. For this image she used a Hasselblad camera to capture the exquisite detail of the subject. This work is a limited edition of 8, plus 2 AP. Two additional sizes are available on request also as limited editions. This large piece is edition 2 / 8. It is signed on the back and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The framed piece has a white border within a dark brown handmade wood box frame (dimensions are the image size and the outer frame size is 50.8 x 40.2 in). Framing and mounting is to conservation standard with high visibility reflection control water white glass. Olivia Hemingway lives and works in London and West Yorkshire. Her work often has a strong narrative and focuses on people's lives in everyday surroundings. Hemingway’s portfolio includes Aardman Animations, BBC, Tate, National Portrait Gallery, The United Nations, Warner Bros, Flight of the Conchords, Massive Attack and Sir Quentin Blake. Exhibitions include The Imperial War Museum, The Spitz Gallery, The National Trust, The Huddersfield Art Gallery, Leeds City Museum and The Barbican.
