In these pieces I take to the limit the possibilities of construction of ceramic sculpture in technical terms; raw clay forms merge with fired and refired pieces, soft and organic lines are complemented with ruptures and cuts. On a formal level each piece presents (essentially) two ways of treating ceramics, gesture is opposed to technique and in this dialectic a body regenerates itself. Each piece is the natural result of a process of symbolic reconstruction of our material. Its parts are regrouped to constitute a new body without a fixed representation. The sculpture is part of the series Es Natural, a series of ceramic pieces to be hung on the wall. Es Natural is a reflection on the relationship between forms and materials. https://oscarbarbery.com/es-natural/

In the relationship between the forms there is a narrative of proximity, of contact, of encounter, and it is probable that this narrative is not only composed of concepts but fundamentally of sensations. In Oscar Barbery's work, sculpture is the verb, it is the action and it is the subject, its formal constitution is the result of representations of the self-determined movement of matter: undefined bodies that attract, compose and project themselves. The relationship between them suggests a new nature or an amplified nature.
