This elephant sculpture is identical (though more finely finished) to those which have been fixed down on the streets of London, Berlin, Paris and many locations in the UK. So far 180+ elephants have gone out on the streets, Guerilla style, since 2015. The shape of the elephant goes back to the late 1990s when I found a chunk of aerated concrete which I carved into an elephant. Somebody bought it almost immediately so I decided to make some more, however the concrete blocks in their full form are long and narrow, so the elephants took on this shape. I have been refining the shape and expanding the range of materials used since then to include cast concrete, rammed earth, cork insulating plaster, wood, expanded foam and hempcrete. This particular elephant had some very nice mottled colours and it was immediately clear that this one was too good for the streets. The colours derive from pigments mixed into the concrete itself, they are not painted on. CE15 means concrete elephant 15, and this was therefore 15th one to be made ready for sale rather than a life on the streets. The street elephants give passers by a lot of joy, and this I know because random people contact me to let me know how they feel about them. Those who own one fo these elephants also report feeling a lot of love for them. In the past year I have been meditating upon all the elephants, those on the streets and those still in my possession, to deliberately charge them with the feeling of pure love in order that they transmit this back to their surroundings. Magic is real.

My work seems to be all about elephants and love, or love and empathy told through the medium of elephants and street art. There are many elephant sculptures on the streets of London, Berlin, Paris, California and many other places, each fixed down Guerilla style for the express purpose of increasing the love in the world. Recently I have incorporated elements of magic into my sculptures so that they radiate love more directly to people in the vicinity of the sculptures. Thought and intention are the coding language and energy that drive changes in our reality, we can with do this unconsciously or consciously. I choose the latter and embody this principle in my work. There are also two static 'Love Machine' installations in the California desert near Joshua Tree, and this is the direction I see myself going in the future.
